Phew! What a busy day! Today we trimmed the toenails on all the puppies and that's a lot of toes. This is not the first time they have had a nail trim but it's the first time we did them all on the same day. Early nail trims help the pups are learn to be calm and compliant during nail trims which will serve them (and their families) well for the rest of their lives. Long nails are also painful to the mother dogs when the puppies nurse so we make sure to keep them short. Plus those little feet are just too cute!

Holi was in charge of entertaining the human baby while her pups were getting their pedicures. She is just too sweet and loves everyone!
The pups are doing so well with their other activities as well. Everyone has definitely found the knack for eating and they are devouring 3 meals a day and still nursing from mom. Their teeth have erupted so they are starting to experiment with toys, although their favorite things to chew on are still each other. Every day they are exposed to a variety of sounds, some are only recordings (like fireworks) but others (like vacuums) are very real. These early experiences will help them be more confident and well adjusted later in life. They are also getting out of their pens everyday to explore, have extra loving, and gain more experience. The pups have not yet been outside since the weather is still too much for them at this age but we did bring some snow in to let them check it out!
